Mini-Blog: November 9th one-month-old report: At one month old, Corina weighs 8.9 lbs exactly! That's a weight gain of more than an ounce per day! She is a good eater, but seems to get gassy easily...making her a bit cranky at nighttime when, uhhh, everyone is trying to sleep a bit. So we're not getting much quality sleep. Besides that she is behaving like a 'normal' baby!! We've managed to go out and eat: Pho 99 (good), The Singapore Restaurant formerly known as 369 (new ownership, not as good food), The Country Way (a great non-chain diner), Claim Jumper (yumyum...one of our favorite chain restaurants!) Dave's parents babysat Cam a couple of times and we went to eat at Coconut Grove (yummy Thai) and Nouvelle Bistro (Fremont's finest fine dining...though there isn't much competition) with Corina (who behaved and let us have a nice dinner BEFORE asking loudly for her dinner). November 2006 (month 2) On the 9th, she hit 1 month old and at 5 weeks old hit 10 lbs...a gain of 3+ lbs and she is round-faced and double-chinned! 20.5" tall. Very alert. Watches people watching her with intensity. December 2006 (month 3) On the 9th, she hit 2 months old and is 11.5 lbs...5 lbs above her birthweight...a gain of 1.3+ ounces per day every day for the last 2 months and still growing like a weed. 23.25" tall. [Cam was 12.5 lbs] Eats well, chubby, triple chin, no neck in sight! Still eats often, but has had some 4+ hour stints between eating (towards late December). Sleeps fairly well. Smiles back when you smile at her. Trying to say words, which all come out as 'cooo'. January 2007 (month 4) 15 lbs! 25.5" tall at 3 months old on the 9th. [Cam was 14lbs, 3 oz and 24"...wow, Cori sure is a big little 'un!!] Whew, got her moved to the den so she doesn't wake up mommy with every snuffle. Still launching off gas-fired poops! Smiles often. Poops often. Super-mega-round baby cheeks. And has several rolls/folds on arms and legs...like a Michelin baby. Feb 2007 (month 5). 75 percentile weight and head size, 90 percentile height. We can't believe it...with no visible neck, no visible wrists, and fat folds on arms and legs like a sumo wrestler, she must be 99th percentile weight! Trying hard to roll over. Animated and smiles a lot (when she isn't gassy). Getting her 1st tooth in, along with the related drooling and fussing. March 2007 (month 6). Okay, maybe the massive drooling wasn't from a tooth because we don't see a new tooth! Rolled over for the 1st time (back-to-tummy) on the 3rd! Rolled back for the 1st time (tummy-to-back) on the 10th! Found and grabbed her feet on the 17th! Rolls all over the room (slowly) by end of the month! Smiles mirthfully again-and-again when you smile at her. Really really wants to eat 'solid' food...watches us hungrily and grabs for what we're eating. April 2007 (month 7). On April 9th, Cori hit 6-months old! Cori weighs: 75th percentile everything. [Cam was 18.5 lbs and 26.5" long] Began eating 'solid' food...rice cereal, oatmeal, and bananas so far! She likes oatmeal most, but not as much as just gnawing on a spoon. Rolls around pretty quickly and really looks like she wants to crawl. Still smiles very easily and laughs mirthfully at Cam's loud and crazy antics (when he is trying to get her to laugh). April 23rd, 1st haircut...very boyish...Linda thinks the hairstylist thought Cori was a boy because she was dressed in a blue-ish outfit... April 23rd, said "Dada"....actually more like "dadadadadadadadadada" but we'll count it. Wants to feed herself...grabs the spoon, puts it in her mouth, and won't let you have it back for refilling. May 2007 (month 8). On the VERGE for sure of crawling. Mostly only cries when hungry...which is very very often still! Loves fresh (smushed) pears and peas. Wants to grab and put everything in mouth. Adores her big brother. Laughs mirthfully when playing Airplane with daddy. 'Swam' in the pool for the 1st time, didn't mind it at all! Started crawling!! Extremely curious about everything. June 2007 (month 9). On June 9th, Cori turned 8-months old and weighs a big ol' 18 lbs! Crawls well & fast, using a brute-force two arms and then a leg wiggle with each sequence. Very observant & curious. Watches everything going on. Picks up everything and puts in in her mouth. Likes to feed herself, especially bits of pear, mango, peas, tofu, cheerios and most anything! Likes the jumper. Adores her big brother, especially when he tries to make her laugh. Can pull herself up and stand for a few minutes while holding onto something (sofa, leg, toy, curtains, Mudpie). Went camping for the 1st time! 3 nights. She didn't like sleeping in the tent too much, even though it was a Pack n' Play. July 2007 (month 10). Likes to bang on the piano. Puts everything in her mouth still. Has 4 teeth in (or almost in). Often insists on feeding herself. Adept at pulling herself up and 'walking' with hands guiding her along the edge of the sofa and such. Really likes going in the pool...while we're holding her, kicks her legs and waves her arms, splashing water on her face and hair. She only pauses to give an expression of "who got water on my face?!" every few seconds. August 2007 (month 11). Can stand for a few seconds! Sort of maybe took 1st steps. 1st pancake...scarfed that one down, blueberries and all! Likes pointing and touching your finger, ET-style...Daddy says "dheet!" upon contact and Cori smiles or giggles. Likes getting forehead 'hello' bumps from Daddy. Really loves to eat and it shows! Thus, she is easy to feed! Just set some Cheerios, bits of fruit, Tofu, pasta, etc. in front of her...easy and much less picky than Cam was! Usually prefers to feed herself food set in front of her than to be spoon-fed...will scream bloody murder if you try and feed her when she wants to feed herself. Enjoys corn-on-the-cob (a small slice at a time). Curious about everything. Picks everything up. Stares at (new) people for minutes, sizing 'em up. Don't even THINK of taking something out of her hands, she cries bloody murder! Other than that, she laughs easily. Likes being held upside-down, makes her giggle a lot. Still likes to splash in the pool for tens of minutes at a time. Can stand for a few seconds at a time without holding onto something. Technically took her first steps sort of maybe. September 2007 (month 12). Has begun to hold 'conversations' with Cam. She pretty much just says, "ack!" or "ahhh!". Cam will imitate her sound, then she'll 'say' something else and he'll imitate that and they'll both giggle. They can do this for 30 minutes. Adores her brother. FIRSTS: Initiates the forehead-bump 'hello' greeting that Daddy taught her last month. Started her on a popcorn habit (we peel away the kernel shell)...she loves it. Crawls everywhere, stands for short spells, super curious, grabs everything. Likes to GIVE you whatever she is holding, then is thrilled and smiley when you GIVE it back...plays that game a dozen times in a row. Still loves to eat...just put some food in front of her and it vanishes! Went on first carnival ride (Merry Go Round at SC Boardwalk). Claps her hands (and gurgle giggles) when other people are clapping. Screams her head off when she wants out of her high chair, or when she wants milk, or ?? Can walk with help and support. Loves to play hide n' seek, thinks it is the funniest thing ever when she finds the hider. REALLY dislikes riding in elevators, fast or slow, 1 story or 20.
