'02 Henry Coe Backcountry Weekend

This page NEW on April 30th, 2002

Each year, the Pine Ridge Association has their "Backcountry Weekend" at Henry Coe State Park.

Never heard of Coe!?  Only an hour south of the Bay Area, 100 square miles of undeveloped parklands!!

On that weekend only, Wai, Linda, Dave, Shapoor, and Nick were allowed to drive into Orestimba Corral, deep in the eastern section of the Park:

From there, we backpacked 5 miles thru beautiful rolling hills and forest:

Our destination was Mississippi Lake, which is normally a very tough, 11-mile hike from the main entrance:

We did some eating (of giant baked walnut/chocolate-chip cookies) and some relaxing.

We took a different route on our hike out and it was crazy-steep ups and downs!  The views were amazing!

Wai brought us in and out with his Jeep.  We were hoping for some deeper, muddier creek crossings, but this was fun anyways!
