Hackberry House!

This page updated on Labor Day, 2003 (misc pics added)

We might be the biggest impulse buyers that you know ;)

Although we had no plans to move out of our old house soon, we saw a house for sale in our neighborhood that we loved, and bought it 7 days later.  But we were 'stuck' with our old house to sell.  After scrambling to clean it up, paint, etc., it sold 3 days after an Open House showing, and escrow is closed and we got the check!  Thank goodness.

The best thing is, that tree in front is actually a HACKBERRY tree!  Makes our day ;)

Here's the timeline of events:

Feb 23, 2003:  We checked out some Open Houses in our neighborhood.  We really liked one that had started out like our current home (in 1964), but was almost completely rebuilt/expanded by the contractor/owner in 1978.

Mar 1st:  We made an offer

Mar 3rd:  Negotiated final deal, well below asking.

Mar 4th:  Started packing up our belongings!

Mar 6th:  Locked on a great low mortgage rate.

Mar 7th:  Found a selling agent, set up plan to sell old house.

Mar 22-23rd:  Old house is listed and we have open house.  70 groups visit!

Mar 25th:  The old house is SOLD for above-asking price!

Mar 26th:  Escrow closes on new house!  We get the keys!!!  We start moving our junk.  Sheesh there is a lot of it.

April 29th:  Escrow closes on the old house and we get much needed $$ to pay for the new house!  Sigh of relief:  We did not have to pay for two mortgages while awaiting sale of the old house.
